On our most recent episode of Zodiac Divas, we spoke with actress and musician Nia Peeples about the power of forgiveness, and how to let go of past regrets by accepting ourselves and others. We can’t change the past, but we can alter our attitude toward it by accepting and forgiving ourselves for the choices we made at the time.
Our topic on this episode was “Flirt Alert”. Do you have any regrets over missed opportunities for flirting in the past? Perhaps you can make amends to yourself by incorporating some of our suggested flirting techniques into your future efforts:
1) Have fun, be fun and don’t be attached to any outcome.
2) Be genuinely interested in the other person. Think about what matters to them.
3) If you’re nervous about flirting, ask to be accompanied by a Divine Consciousness. Say a prayer (to yourself, not out loud in the bar), such as “Universe, please guide my tongue” (no, not that kind of tonguing, we’re just at the conversation phase for now), and
4) Compliment the other person, but only if it’s genuine.
In a study conducted in 1970 at the University of Pennsylvania, it was concluded that communication is received more through body language than words:
7%: spoken words
38%: verbal behaviour (tone of voice, timbre, tempo & volume) and
55%: nonverbal communication (body posture, breathing, skin changes, movement)
There are many ways to show someone you’re interested by using nonverbal communication when you first meet, such as:
1) Smiling
2) Looking at their lips (don’t stare too long or they will think they have ketchup on their face), and
3) Giving a 3 second stare, then looking away.
If you don’t get a response with the above techniques, remember that there’s never failure, only feedback. If something’s not working for you, try something else. If that doesn’t work, that’s feedback, too…and keep on trying until you no longer feel like flirting is an effort but something natural and fun, maybe even something you learn to enjoy.
